NGO Set-Up

WHAT IS NGO SET-UP?
Big Teacher has taught and encouraged others to start their own initiatives in their communities, whether it be setting up their own school or NGO. He has shown them how to set up a system where earning money and social service can be balanced in order to develop communities.

WHAT DO STUDENTS LEARN IN THIS PROGRAM?
Students who go through the NGO Set-Up program get the opportunity to set-up and run a center in one of the country’s provinces. While setting up and running a center, students are focused to learn a set of skills (see the boxes below).

Dynamism

The program helps students to be dynamic because they are exposed to so many new situations and challenges.

Perseverance

While facing many challenges, students learn to overcome them and develop a mindset of: "where there is a will, there is a way".

Leadership

Students learn how to think and act like leaders. They need to make decisions and become role models for others to look at.

Compassion

Throughout the program, students compassion for humanity increases, and this becomes the driving force of students to do more as they are running schools.

Hard Skills

Many hard skills are gained throughout the program such as: management, accounting, budget planning, business-thinking, coaching & advising, and more.

Principled Living

After students have developed a morally right character, students develop the skill to liver by higher principles. When living by those principles, they see the outcomes of their centers improve.

I've first learnt how to set-up a school when I was in Cambodia. Later I had the opportunity to direct AHHA in Laos. The set-up program has made me a dynamic leader and has improved my overall AHHA skill-set in all aspects.

I've run schools in Malaysia, Cambodia and now in Japan. The greatest thing about this program is that the communities benefit from it in so many ways. Personally I also have grown in so many aspects, especially belief-in-self and aura.

I can proudly say that the NGO Set Up program has helped me learn how to run an NGO successfully. I now help others to go through the program and set-up schools in East-Timor.

I was the first person to open a school in the Eastern part of Malaysia. I've set-up and run a school there for more than 2 years and have helped educate many students through our programs. The NGO Set Up program has helped me to become a strong leader.

One of the skills which I've learnt through the NGO Set-Up program are relationship skills with community members and officials. Ever since I developed these skills I have been overseeing many province centers that were set-up in East-Timor.

I've set up an NGO for 2 times in Japan thanks to the skill-set that I've gained by learning the NGO Set-Up program. Over the years, my skills have improved tremendously. This program has mainly improved my self-esteem and compassion skills.

I had the chance to run the main center in East Timor. It was the best experience I've had because it made me so much more confident than I used to be. As a Japanese I wish to bring this program to Japan one day.

I was among the first generation students of AHHA Education in Cambodia. Along the years I've had so many opportunities to run centers, set-up schools and carry out different projects. One of the hardest skills to develop for me was "budget planning and accounts", but thanks to this program I could do it.

I joined Big Teacher's international program when I was in my twenties. A few years later he gave me the opportunity to open AHHA Education in Laos. It was a challenging but rewarding experience. It transformed me into a dynamic leader who has so many skills.

The first time I ran a school was when I was in Malaysia. It was very challenging but it transformed me into who I am today. Through the experience I had, I later was able to open AHHA Education in India. My dream is to open more schools for the poor in India.

I had the opportunity to run AHHA Education in Laos for 2 years. The program showed me that as a woman I have the same potential as a man. I proudly can say that I am an example to look at for many woman, and I would give the credit to the NGO Set-Up program.

I've been in AHHA for many years, and have gone through the NGO Set Up program many times. Every time I go through it I learn something new or develop new skills. This program is really effective and contributes so much to community development.

When I was an exchange student, I became a province center supervisor. I traveled around to set-up and coordinate centers. This experience helped me to develop compassion for humanity. When I returned to Cambodia I became the school principal for a while. Then I continued to develop my AHHA skills.
